A Session That Was a Long Time Coming

Some sessions come together because a couple wants to celebrate a milestone. Others happen because someone decides it's finally time. For Tanner and Ivy, it was the second one.

Tanner reached out wanting to do something he and Ivy had never done before: professional photos. High school sweethearts who had built a life together, and somehow never had a session to show for it. He planned the whole thing. Ivy took care of the outfits, a soft pastel pink and yellow dress for herself and a cream shirt with cream embroidered detailing for him. They matched without being matchy. They looked like themselves.

The Location

We spent the morning at Alfred B. Maclay Gardens, one of my favorite places to shoot in the Tallahassee area. The gardens have this incredible combination of manicured beauty and wild overgrowth, shade-dappled paths, reflecting water, and blooms that feel almost too perfect to be real. For a couple as genuinely sweet as Tanner and Ivy, it was exactly right.

What Makes Sessions Like This Special

What I love most about sessions like this one is that there's no performance happening. These two have been loving each other for years. My job was just to slow them down long enough to capture it. And they did not disappoint.

If you're a couple in the Tallahassee or North Florida area thinking about a session at Maclay Gardens, I would absolutely love to talk.
